Your SCEI-HE experience will be supported by an academic director, course coordinator, field placement officer, student welfare coordinator, and staff and student support officers.


Shwan Pang

Course Coordinator – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

Shwan is an experienced early childhood researcher, studying her PhD. She has five years’ experience as a Faculty of Education ambassador and faulty representative, supervising Bachelor’s degree international students with their academic skills (lesson plans, mapping essays, effective communications with parents, colleagues, wider communities, teaching and practice strategies etc).


Shwan previously peer mentored Monash Uni students in Year 1 – 3 supervising their academic skills; preparing her for her current coordinating role.


Dr Marcela Huerta-Villalobos

Lecturer – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

Dr Marcela Huerta-Villalobos is an experienced Early Childhood Teacher and Researcher with a strong passion for planning, organisation, and management of the educational approach and strategies. She focuses her research interest in three main areas; educational leadership, educational management and early childhood education.


She underwent a Master of Educational Management program in order to acquire a global perspective of the forces that shape leaders and their teams, and the tools and models that can be applied to improve and manage teams, innovation processes and educational leadership. Additionally, Dr Huerta-Villalobos holds a PhD of Education, ultimately to increase and consolidate her research skills and develop a real connection between theory and practice.


Viki Wang

Lecturer – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

Viki is a registered Early Childhood Teacher and NDIS Behaviour Support Specialist. She has been working in Early Childhood Education and Special Education sector since 2013. She obtained a wealth of invaluable knowledge and experience through working across early childhood education and care settings, schools, disability services and universities. She has been sharing her passion and knowledge with student teachers through teaching at registered training organisations and higher education institutes since 2018.   

Viki takes pride in her conscious pursuit of ongoing personal growth. She completed a Master of Education (Special Education, Inclusion and Early Intervention), a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, a Graduate Certificate in Educational Research and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Education at the University of Melbourne.   

In her free time, you might find her hiking in national parks, traveling around the world or looking for new restaurants to try in Melbourne.   


Gulsah Ozturk

Lecturer – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

Gulsah is a lecturer and researcher in early childhood education. She received her PhD in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Australia, where she won a scholarship. She specialises in the field of early language and literacy.  Gulsah has conducted research studies with young children in early childhood settings both in Australia and Turkey. This work explored children’s language and literacy practices in their home environments. She has several publications from her previous research projects. Her recent research focuses on digital literacy practices of children from culturally diverse backgrounds. 

Sharifah Albar

Lecturer – Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

Sharifah begins her journey as an early childhood practitioner since 2003 in Chiba and Tokyo prefecture in Japan. Parents in the community remarked fruitful communication that has led her deep passion in the field from accounting and external auditing further as Consultant at a Franchisor of Preschool Centre, Lecturer and Researcher in Early Childhood Education.


Sharifah embrace and taking pride in her pursuits as lifelong learner. She attained her Master’s in Early Childhood Education specializing in Assessment and Evaluation, and at her final stage of PhD study at Monash University. She has several publications and conducted research studies with teachers and young children in early childhood settings and school contexts both in Australia and Malaysia. This work delves into quality interactions nurture creative thinking behaviour across curriculum through inquiry, problem-and-project-based approach. Research skills attainment in ethnography, mixed-method, video-based research on teaching and learning, video content analysis, and submitted ethics applications with the Victorian Department of Education and Training for researching in school, with teachers and young children.
